Worcester Student Nabil Georges Presents Research at Assumption College's Undergraduate Symposium

2013 Apr 24

Nabil Georges of Worcester, MA, class of 2013, presented his projects: "Exploring Serenity: Identifying Distinguishing Features and Do Personality Traits Moderate Between Facebook Usage and Self-Esteem" at the Undergraduate Symposium at Assumption College on April 15-16. Nabil worked with classmate Katelyn Colburn on his first project and investigated how common experiences of serenity correlated with life satisfaction in surveyed individuals and found that those who reported experiencing serenity more often also reported a high satisfaction in life. Nabil's second project, done with classmates Jaqueline Castiglioni and Briana Brown, examined the relationship between self-esteem, the Big Five Personality Traits, and Facebook usage. He found that individuals who spent more time on Facebook reported higher self-esteem than individuals who spent less time on Facebook. This poster won for Social Sciences. The Undergraduate Symposium is a celebration of student research and creative work in the arts, humanities, and sciences.
