Katherine Golden, of Millis, Selected to Serve in a Student Leadership Position at Assumption College

2018 May 18

The Assumption College Office of Student Affairs has announced that Katherine Golden, of Millis, Class of 2020, has been selected among a significant pool of applicants to serve as a 2018 Orientation Leader.

The Assumption College Orientation Leaders, guided by the Catholic principles of Assumptionist tradition, are dedicated to supporting incoming first year students during their transition to college. Interactive and collaborative experiences during three different orientation sessions in June - led by the orientation leaders - help both students and parents alike reflect on what it means to be an emerging adult in a college atmosphere. Orientation leaders will guide incoming students on their journey of becoming individuals of critical intelligence, thoughtful citizenship, and compassionate service as they embark upon their undergraduate journey.

"Each year, we carefully select orientation leaders who best represent the Assumption spirit and who can genuinely connect with and support our incoming first year students," said Kaitlin Bevins, Director of Student Activities and Leadership Development. "Our orientation staff members are committed to creating a welcoming atmosphere and cultivating relationships with the incoming students. During their time together, orientation leaders work to share the deep values, Catholic traditions, and the strong community that is representative of Assumption College."

Assumption College organizes three June orientation programs; each session lasts a day and a half with an overnight component for new students to get a sense of what it will be like to live on campus. Orientation leaders carefully construct sessions to help students familiarize themselves with the campus, discuss academic interests with advisors, and meet other members of their class.
