Gabriela Gorgoni, of Fayetteville, Earns Spot on Assumption College Women's Lacross Team

2018 Apr 9

The Assumption College Department of Athletics has announced that Gabriela Gorgoni, of Fayetteville, has earned a coveted spot on the 2018 Assumption College women's lacrosse team. Gorgoni, Class of 2018, will compete during the Greyhounds' spring season, where the team began competition in Florida over Spring Break.

"One of our team's biggest mantras is commitment, both on the field and in the classroom," said Abbey Capobianco-Simone, who is in her eighth season as head coach. "The foundation of our program is really built on hard work, integrity, and accountability, and these women do everything they can to make this an elite program. We take great pride in the fact that every single person contributes in a different way to make us who we are. We are excited to build upon last year's campaign and have even more success this season."

The Hounds finished the 2017 season with an overall record of 9-8 and 7-6 in conference play, advancing to the quarterfinals in the Northeast10 Tournament. The 2018 Hounds, who are returning three of their top scorers from last season, were ranked sixth in the NE10 Preseason Poll. The team welcomes nine freshmen, as well as alumni Jaclyn Chirco '17 and Caitlin White '13 who will serve as assistant coaches. Coach Capobianco-Simone called Chirco and White "invaluable members of our program [who] bring lots of passion and knowledge. Their energy is contagious and they continue to set the perfect example for our student athletes."
