Brenna Burke, of Salem, Serving in Leadership Position of Assumption's GAME

The Assumption College Office of Student Activities has announced that Brenna Burke, of Salem, has been elected, and is currently serving, as President of GAME for the 2017-18 academic year.

GAME is one of nearly 60 clubs and organizations available to students allowing them the opportunity to network with professionals; take on leadership roles; and use classroom knowledge in the community. The student-run clubs appeal to a variety of interests and include offerings such as academic clubs (French, Italian, Pre-law, etc.); media (College television station, literary magazine and student newspaper, Le Provocateur); honor societies and many more.

"Student involvement is a cornerstone of an Assumption education," said Kaitlin Bevins, director of student activities and leadership development at Assumption. "The College offers a wide array of clubs and organizations-cultural, athletic, and academic, among others. Engagement in student groups help students find their niche and utilize their talents, while building confidence, friendships and leadership skills."

The Greyhound Association for Marketing Enrichment (GAME) was officially chartered as a collegiate chapter by the American Marketing Association in January 2010. The chapter exists to build a foundation for advancing education by applying marketing and business concepts to a broad spectrum of organizations. Through effective collaboration, members strive to obtain professional experience to enhance their understanding of how marketing adds value to today's society. The Assumption College Men's Club Volleyball team is a competitive level club sport that competes at local and regional tournaments. The team competes in the New England Collegiate Volleyball League.

Assumption College boasts an outstanding academic curriculum as well as a campus rich with student activity. This fall, The Princeton Review included Assumption in its Best 382 Colleges in the nation, in which students highlighted "a great sense of belonging" on campus. Students also lauded the College for engaging and encouraging students to get involved on campus, and making it "easy to meet new people."

Based on a study conducted by USA Today, student success in both the classroom and the professional environment are directly linked to student involvement. Students involved in extracurricular activities consistently outperformed students who were uninvolved. Overall, student involvement correlated with higher grade point averages, more social engagement and more potential job opportunities compared to those who did not participate in student leadership organizations.
