Adam Duval, of Franklin, Selected to Serve in a Student Leadership Position at Assumption College

2017 Apr 4

The Assumption College Office of Student Affairs has announced that Adam Duval, of Franklin, Class of 2020, has been selected among a significant pool of applicants to serve as a 2017 orientation leader.

The Assumption College orientation leaders, guided by the Catholic principles of Assumptionist tradition, are dedicated to supporting and challenging incoming freshmen during their transition to college. Interactive and collaborative experiences during three different orientation sessions in June - led by the orientation leaders - help both students and parents alike reflect on what it means to be an emerging adult in a college atmosphere. Orientation leaders will guide incoming students on their journey of becoming people of critical intelligence, thoughtful citizenship, and compassionate service.

"The members of the Orientation Staff are elected carefully, and each orientation leader truly represents what it means to be a Greyhound, " says Kaitlin Bevins, Interim Director of Student Activities and Leadership Development. "The relationships they build with the students help promote the strong sense of community and character that Assumption College is founded upon. Orientation leaders work hard to create a welcoming atmosphere that will encourage strong spiritual, emotional, and intellectual growth amongst incoming college freshmen."

The Assumption College orientation staff organizes three June orientation programs; each session lasts a day and a half with an overnight component for new students to get a sense of what it will be like to live on Campus. Orientation leaders carefully construct sessions to help students familiarize themselves with the campus, discuss academic interests with advisors, and meet other members of their class.
